What Is Your Vision of Wellness?

YOU BECOME WHAT YOU BELIEVE

What are you wishing for right now? What have you always dreamed of doing with your health and wellness? If you felt better in your life, what would you be doing more of? These are just a few of the motivational questions you can ask yourself when considering your life, your health and your future. Creating a wellness vision will be the first step you will take when working with a health and well-being coach.

So what is your vision of wellness?

A wellness vision is a compelling statement of who you are and what health-promoting, life-giving behaviors you want to be doing consistently. This statement represents what you want, what you want to become and will fuel your motivation to get there. Crafting a wellness vision will help you accomplish all of your goals.

Create the highest, grandest vision possible for your life because you become what you BELIEVE!

Health and wellness coaches are like architects, supporting clients to create a clear vision with a strong foundation in which to build from. Your vision is written in the present tense as if it’s already happening, remembering anything is possible and free of limitations.

Living Your Vision

When you live your vision powerfully through your imagination for 5-10 minutes each day, it will move from your head to your heart and become a living, breathing part of your life. When things get hard, your vision will always remind you that the only way you are not going to be successful is if you stop working to make your vision real.

How A Wellness Vision Is Constructed

A wellness vision should touch on 2-3 areas of the 6 pillars of Lifestyle Medicine health; which include nutrition, exercise, sleep, stress management, reduction of risky substances and social connection. And should also express exactly what you are doing and why you are doing it specifically and clearly stating your hopeful outcome and ultimate goal.

Here is an example of a wellness vision.

I am getting more solid sleep that enables me to be strong, healthy and full of energy. I am discovering ways to eat less processed sugar and incorporate fruit into my diet. I am practicing yoga consistently so I am more present, less worried and at peace in all areas of my life.

Ask yourself these questions as your takeaway…

If I met you a year from now, what would you want to say is true about you? What would you love to have going on? And if you stay the same, how does your future look?
