No matter what your goal might be, no one wants belly fat hanging around making it difficult to fit into your clothes. And although there’s a misconception that if you don’t eat breakfast, you’ll lose that weight, I’m here to tell you that’s not true. It’s actually one of the 5 worst weight loss mistakes that have the opposite effect.

Starving your body of food causes a negative reaction and a release of cortisol; which affects your blood sugar as insulin is dispersed. The bottom line is this sugar will get stored as fat, more specifically around the belly area and with time, will just continue to grow.

Again, not a food you’d consider for breakfast, but let me tell you my husband made me a whole grain brown rice bowl with black beans for breakfast recently and it was not only delicious, it kept me feeling full and energized all day. Throwing beans of any kind into a breakfast wrap, an omelet or spread onto a piece of whole grain toast will provide you with an incredible amount of protein and fiber in addition to healthy carbohydrates that will provide you with energy throughout the day. Personally, both of these foods play a large role in my diet. In addition to the fantastic health benefits, the protein provided in nuts and avocados enable people to lose weight over time. My favorite nut is the cashew and I eat this food for countless health benefits in addition to warding off belly fat. It’s actually the perfect breakfast food to have with your coffee or on the road to work. Be sure just to eat just a palmful as they are high in fat, but that amount alone will fulfill your appetite and keep your body functioning properly while busting that belly fat.

Avocados are not only a creamy, delicious superfood, they’re a great source of Vitamin C, E, K, and B-6, in addition to niacin, folate, magnesium, potassium and omega-3 fatty acids. Some even recommend eating an entire avocado everyday. You can add this ultra special food to anything from whole grain toast or crackers, atop eggs for a protein-packed breakfast or even just on its own with a sprinkle of sea salt.
