Are you ready to lose the fat and replace it with muscle? The most important step in achieving this goal starts with food. Ensuring that you are eating a small meal every few hours, maximizing protein while limiting carbs and drinking lots of water is the key to reducing the fat on your body.
A combination of cardiovascular exercise and strength training in conjunction with the best foods to lose fat and build muscle below, will put you on a healthy path that can easily become your new lifestyle.
Nuts
This is one of my absolute favorite healthy foods! Nuts are not only convenient to carry with you wherever you go, they are jam-packed with protein and fiber, in addition to a number of vitamins like magnesium, zinc, potassium and Vitamin E. Eating nuts will nourish your muscles enabling you to become stronger and are also considered to be a small meal, keeping you feeling fuller longer. Another great benefit is all nuts offer about the same benefits, so mix them up or choose the ones that you like best. Just be sure to limit your intake to about a palmful so that you don’t overindulge in fat.
Eggs
We’ve talked about eggs numerous times at Skinny Healthy Girl because they are crucial to building muscle and keeping you feeling full. Regardless of what you’ve heard in the past, eggs are good for you, even the yokes; which are full of nutrients your body craves. My tip for including eggs within your diet is to make a half dozen hard-boiled at the beginning of each week so they are available to you whenever you might need one.
Apples
Many people don’t realize the incredible health benefits of an apple. Eating an apple per day will truly keep the doctor away because of their ability to keep you feeling full enabling you to lose weight. In addition, they are rich in fiber that fulfills your hunger pains while also giving you energy. The key is to eat the skin and all to really benefit from what an apple has to offer.
Broccoli
One of my absolute favorite vegetables! I love everything about broccoli, especially that it’s so high in soluble fiber and so low in calories that it’s truly one of the best foods for weight loss. This vegetable is perfect in an omelette, paired with fish or chicken or even on its own. If you don’t like broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage and kale offer the same benefits.
Spinach
There is a reason why Popeye ate his spinach; it’s incredibly good for you. And when it comes to fat lose and building muscle, there’s no better food to eat. In addition, it’s packed with nutrients that prevent cancer and heart disease while also preventing muscle and bone loss. Not sure how to get spinach into your diet? Include it in your salads, chop and stir into stews or saute’ with a little olive oil in a pan with eggs. Just be sure to eat it.
Quinoa
This is a newer food for me as I’ve just discovered the incredible health benefits. If you’re looking to lose weight it’s important to limit your carbohydrates, but at the same time eat the grains that will fuel your body and give you energy. Quinoa is just that. It’s higher in fiber and protein than any other grain. Mix all of your favorite vegetables and low fat proteins with quinoa and nourish your body in every way needed.
